Harry Potter is back, again!

I just saw the trailer for the new Harry Potter movie coming out. I was never a big fan of the series until the previous movie came out. Now I think it has some potential. I’ll probably go see this movie when it hits the theater.

Jared Got a Hair Cut!, oh and…some other stuff

Published by xrobertcmx under Robert's Posts

Well, I know he told everyone, and well, he does actually look about 700% better.  I know, 100% is the best there is, but he is 700% better.  It is no longer all weird looking, and lanky.

In other news Starbucks Coffee will be closing several hundred stores.  I know, I know, I felt the disturbance in the ether as well, but at least they started being honest and giving us all what we want.  That of course is crack in a cup.  The newish Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice, in a large format at least, is 5 shots of espresso in a cup with ice, soymilk, and sweetner.  I find it to be gently uplifting, and capable of producing a mild euphoria.

The nice thing about this beverage is that it is only 160 calories as opposed to my normal beverage which runs about 220 if I remember to have the sugar free syrup used.  Probably a bit less as I had moved to the 4 shots of espress variety before this new drink came out.

Moving onward and upward,  I have to get back to work now.

Bad Day, Good Movie

Well, Robert promised to announce it, but it appears that he didn’t.  I got a hair cut the other day (my first one this year) and now I’m blaming it for all my bad luck.  See, I got this hair cut so that I would look nicer when I asked Megan out.  When I did, I found out that she’s moving out of state this week.  Then yesterday I had the worst luck at video games, losing every game I played.  Then Sheila called and asked me to help her move furniture.  She lives in a gated community and I forgot my phone, so I parked my car at the closest spot I could find (which turned out to be about a mile and a half away) and walked and got a blister on the ball of my foot.  I’m never getting a hair cut again, or at least not until next year.

Now, for the good movie.  I went and saw Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.  The make up, costuming, and visual effects were amazing.  And it was a decent plot, though a little predictable.  The only downside was the ending, they killed off some characters that I liked and I don’t think they needed to do it.  It is worth seeing, especially if Dark Knight is sold out.

Between Dark Knight and Hellboy 2,  I saw a bunch of new trailers and now I need to redo my list of upcoming movies.  I’ll have to see if I can get that done at work tomorrow.

The Dark Knight

Possibly the greatest movie of the Summer.  I saw the midnight showing last night.  I want to go see it again and then preorder the DVD.  Amazing performance by the late Heath Ledger, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets nominated for an Oscar for it.  Christian Bale’s performance wasn’t bad, but Ledger really stole the scene.  I love his wardrobe, too.  I’m going to have to see if Hot Topic or some other place is selling his outfit.

Okay, enough gushing and time for some details.  I’ll try not to spoil anything for those who were the victims of sold out tickets.

The movie is a sequel to Batman Begins and takes place an undisclosed time afterwards.  Bruce Wayne is moonlighting as Batman.  Wayne Manor is still being rebuilt after the fire.  Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) is a lieutenant and has his own special task force.  Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) has been elected district attorney.  Scarecrow is still loose and the Joker is causing trouble.

Heath Ledger was the best Joker (compared to the one that battled Adam West and Jack Nicholson’s version).  He was a very believable pychotic villian.   I loved the scene where he was sitting in the jail.  He was all calm and quiet while the other inmates rattling the bars.  Then he clapped with the other cops when Gordon got promoted.

The Dark Knight brought in about $18.5 million just from the midnight screenings, setting a new midnight debut record.  The former record was held by Star Wars Episode II which brought in $16.9 million.

I want…

I just heard about this and I might actually buy a PS3 to play it. Go Batman! Oh yeah, Superman and Flash are in there, too. I haven’t heard about Green Lantern yet, that would be nice.

Speaking of Batman, thursday night after work I’m going to go and see The Dark Knight. I’m actually rewatching Batman Begins right now to prepare for it.

Sweet happiness in a bottle!

Published by xrobertcmx under Robert's Posts

So, it has been brought to my attention that I may have been a bit lax in posting.  I know, I know, quality before quantity and what not, but I should have been a bit more active in getting content up here and maintaining the balance.

So, what to talk about today?  Well, first the federal government has finally taken the thirty-third step tword forming the new American Police State as dreamt up by our wonderful friends in DC.  The new FISA compromise has officially been passed and George the I will be signing it into law if they have not already.  So, what does this mean to you?  Well basically nothing, just don’t talk about anything personal on the phone as the wonderful people at the warm and fuzzy NSA, FBI, and NSA no longer have to secure warrants from a secret court in order to listen in on your calls, no wait, they didn’t need them before either did they?  Why you ask?  Well His lordship said so, and under the comprise that was just passed, no one can be held accountable if they can show proof that they had been asked nicely.

Now, what are the broader ramifications?  Well, first it showed that our friend Mr. Obama can change sides and support things that should honestly be unpalatable to him.  Hillary Clinton can change and vote correctly after failing to even show up the first time this came up, and John McCain can talk a lot, but when it comes time to vote on one of the most important issues of the year he doesn’t even turn up to vote.

Now on a lighter note, guess what!  A&W has figured out how to make a Root Beer Float soda!  It is a fantastic.

In technology news T-Mobile has been kind enought to start offering a $10 a month phone service, this VOIP service is only available to folks on family plans and counts as one of the 5 lines.  So if you are like me and have all 5 lines filled don’t even ask.  For anyone else I would highly recommend checking it out, $10 a month vs. $50 is not a bad deal.

That is all for now, but I am sure I have a lot more to talk about later:)

She’ll Be Back

I just saw a trailer for the new season of Terminator: the Sarah Conner Chronicles. I can’t wait for the new season to start. However, in the mean time I do have Burn Notice to entertain me. By the way, it the season premiere is this Thursday at 10pm.

Which is a lot better than the other Terminator trailer I saw.

And if you thought that was bad, then check this out.

And finally, some friends of mine saw this.

100 Push ups

Last week a friend of mine told me about a very interesting exercise routine he does. He has his email set up to send him hourly reminders to do push ups while he’s at work. Then he does those push ups and deletes the emails. If he doesn’t do them, then they add up and he has to do a lot of push ups. It sounded like an interesting idea, so I set up my email to do the same. I decided on a nice low number, 10 push ups. And I work 10 hour shifts, so that’s 100 push ups that I’m supposed to do each day. I haven’t been able to do a full 100 yet. Yesterday I did 50 and Thursday I only got 40 done. Half of the problem is that I will be on the phone constantly for hours and not get a chance to do them. The other half of the problem is that I’m not used to doing so many push ups. My arms have been sore all day today. But thats good. No pain no gain. Soon I should have huge biceps the shape of battle ships and tanks like in the Popeye cartoons.

I just found out that they are doing a graphic novel version of the Wheel of Time. Dabel Brothers is the company that is going to do it. Apparently they did a couple volumes for A New Spring a few years ago. I need to find copies of those and check them out. You can find the article here.

In website related stuff, I have finally begun rereleasing my fiction here. Notice the Fiction tab on top of the page. I will be releasing a chapter a week, hopefully. Let me know what you thing.

Girlfriend Application

Some of you might have noticed how the number of archived posts has grown. Well that is because I was going back and converting some of our original posts to our current content manager. As I was rereading them, I came across a couple that I had forgotten about. They were about my dates with Jeanne and Megan.

After reading those posts again, I started thinking that maybe I could pull myself away from my video games long enough to spend time with a girl friend. But I find the entire process of finding one too much work. A while back I even decided to try a dating service and that was a big mistake. I dropped that quick.

So, after much thought (almost a full five minutes worth), I decided to create an application to be my girlfriend. All you the lovely, single, woman readers who are over the age of 18 are eligible to apply. I will then carefully consider each one and choose the best. In the case that there are more than one application that I consider to be the best, I will throw darts at them and choose the one that gets hit.

For those of you who are ready to have me be the man of their dreams, just fill out the application below and email it to me. Also, please include a photograph of yourself so that I can put a face with the application.
