Da Loot

Well, Christmas has come again, just like it does every year, and in the tradition of our capitalistic and commerical society, I recieved several gifts (and I gave several gifts, too).  So, I felt like posting my loot.

My parents gave me:

the dvd Jesus Christ Superstar

A name thing to put on my desk made with scrabble pieces (hand made by my dad)

A briefcase

2 books from the Rogue Angel series by Alex Archer, Grabriel’s Horn and the Lost Scrolls

And a plaque that says “Don’t make me break out the Flying Monkeys”

and some money.

My sister Hannah got me a borders gift card and some coal.

My Grandparents got me a 2009 planner/organizer

My roommates got me a sausage and cheese box

My friend Shiela got me a borders gift card

Shiela’s family got me a Blockbuster gift card

And on top of all that, I got a free breakfast.

But on a more serious note, and remembering the true meaning of Christmas.  This is the day that we celebrate the greatest gift we ever recieved.  This is the rememberance of the day that God gave his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to the world, to teach us the path that we must follow to return to live with God and to give up his life on the cross to atone for our sins.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or generic Happy Holidays.

For those of you who want to see where Santa is, here is a link to the official Santa Tracker.

Human Barbie Dolls, Female Reindeer, and other stuff

First off, I just came across an article about Santa’s reindeer. It turns out that Rudoulf the Red Nose Reindeer is a girl, as are all the rest. Click here for the full story.

I have started reading a new book, How to Succeed with Women. It sounds interesting. Maybe it will have some useful tips.

In unrelated news, I found a woman who is willing to be my own human barbie doll. All I have to do is buy her clothing and she’ll dress up for me. And I’ve found some nice stuff.

There is only one catch. Well, two actually. First, I need to fly her up here. Second, I need to buy the clothing. So, if anyone wants to help me out, I’ve set up a tip jar (its the little jar with money in it below). Just click on it and send me any spare change. This is also a good chance to check out the system, because I plan on using it for contributions to my political campaign next year.

The Economy and Pop Corn

I’ve been doing some thinking about the recession that we’re experiancing right now.  Mostly because I was thinking about a getting a new job, but no one’s hiring.  Then Obama said that he’s going to create a lot of new jobs when he gets into office.  However, I see one minor flaw in the Federal Goverment creating jobs.  All those jobs are most likely going to be centralized, so it won’t help the guy who lost his job in Camden, New York.   Miami, Sacramento, and Philidelphia are among the most likely places to see the jobs.  Here is an article about other places that might get jobs under Obama’s plan.

I won’t tell the Feds not to create the jobs, we do need them.  But I think that the State Goverments should also look at creating more jobs, too.  That would spread the jobs around to each state.  If each county could create 1 job, on top of the jobs created by the feds and the states, then it would spread the work around even more.

I also had a second thought to help fight the recession.  Going to the movies.  I went to see the Day the Earth Stood Still and Quantum of Solace recently.  As you may have seen in some of my new movie reviews, I find off jobs in the credits and mention them.  In Quantum of Solace, among the usual jobs credited there was even a Orchestra Contracter, but I don’t have my notes with me about who it was.  Likewise, in the Day the Earth Stood Still there were other interesting jobs.  On top of that, by going to the movies, you also give business to the theaters themselves which creates need for theater employees, electricity, food for the concession stand, advertising, shipping to get the films to and from the theater, etc.  Most of the money you spend at the theater stays within the US, as opposed to retail where many of the products are imported from other countries.  Now, by just going to the movies you’re not going to end the recession, I’m just saying that it’s a little something to help.

So far, I’ve been slacking on my preNew Year’s resolutions.  I waited until Thursday to make my first post this week.  I’ll try to squeeze in another one tomorrow or Saturday or both.  I need to type up my review of the Day the Earth Stood Still and Ocean’s Thirteen, which will be my next Lame movie post.

New Years continued

Okay, I thought of a couple more resolutions.

5. Post 2-3 times a week and do more Lame Movie Reviews

6. Finish writing and publish the Amazing Adventures of Marshall and Gryphon

Also, it was pointed out that I had missed G.I. Joe somehow in my list of movies that are coming out.  So, here are the details for it:

August 9, 2009: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, starring: Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo, Christopher Eccleston

Christmas and New Years

For anyone who’s looking for a last minute Christmas gift for me, here are some suggestions:

Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Volume 10

Gantz Volume 2

Or I won’t complain about getting gift cards because coming soon there is:

Hikaru no Go, Volume 14

Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Volume 11

Gantz Volume 3

Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume 32

So New Years is coming up soon. Right after Christmas, like it does every year. And with New Years there are the traditional New Years Resolutions. I have decided to beat the rush and start on them now. That way I can have already given up by New Years eve. Actually, I hope/plan on not giving up. Here are some of my resolutions:

1. Lose fifty pounds
2. Raise my chess rating about 600 points
3. Get elected to the State Congress
4. Find Melanie Hutchison, an old friend of mine

Delving a little further into number 4, if anyone might know Melanie please drop me a line. We went to Key West Community College together before she moved to Orlando, Florida and then to Las Angeles, California when we lost touch. This is the only photo I can find on my computer of her. If only I had a scanner, because I have more.
Melanie
