The Economy and Pop Corn
I’ve been doing some thinking about the recession that we’re experiancing right now. Mostly because I was thinking about a getting a new job, but no one’s hiring. Then Obama said that he’s going to create a lot of new jobs when he gets into office. However, I see one minor flaw in the Federal Goverment creating jobs. All those jobs are most likely going to be centralized, so it won’t help the guy who lost his job in Camden, New York. Miami, Sacramento, and Philidelphia are among the most likely places to see the jobs. Here is an article about other places that might get jobs under Obama’s plan.
I won’t tell the Feds not to create the jobs, we do need them. But I think that the State Goverments should also look at creating more jobs, too. That would spread the jobs around to each state. If each county could create 1 job, on top of the jobs created by the feds and the states, then it would spread the work around even more.
I also had a second thought to help fight the recession. Going to the movies. I went to see the Day the Earth Stood Still and Quantum of Solace recently. As you may have seen in some of my new movie reviews, I find off jobs in the credits and mention them. In Quantum of Solace, among the usual jobs credited there was even a Orchestra Contracter, but I don’t have my notes with me about who it was. Likewise, in the Day the Earth Stood Still there were other interesting jobs. On top of that, by going to the movies, you also give business to the theaters themselves which creates need for theater employees, electricity, food for the concession stand, advertising, shipping to get the films to and from the theater, etc. Most of the money you spend at the theater stays within the US, as opposed to retail where many of the products are imported from other countries. Now, by just going to the movies you’re not going to end the recession, I’m just saying that it’s a little something to help.
So far, I’ve been slacking on my preNew Year’s resolutions. I waited until Thursday to make my first post this week. I’ll try to squeeze in another one tomorrow or Saturday or both. I need to type up my review of the Day the Earth Stood Still and Ocean’s Thirteen, which will be my next Lame movie post.
