I’ve been doing research into starting an online anime rental company. Something similar to Netflix, but with a wider selection of Japanese animation. I have a few people who are considering investing and I want to get some hard numbers for them, like how many people are interested in signing up once we open the site. So, my question is, who would be interested in this type of service? We would be offering a 3 dvd at a time plan for $16.95 and we would also have plans for 1, 2, 4, and 5 discs. If you are interested, please post below.
As a follow up question, what one series would you most want to see offered?
To continue on my previous post, I have done some thought and came up with two candidates for the role of Spike in Cowboy Bebop. The first is Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1 and will be Snake Eyes on the big screen this August in G.I. Joe. He has the moves and has played a few different roles (He was also Toad in X-men), so he could probably do the character, too. The other actor, who could definitely do the character is Jeffery Donovon from the TV series Burn Notice. I was watching the premiere of the second half of the second season and thought, he could easily play Spike. He has done some fighting on the show, so he could probably do the action scenes without a probably. Jeffery, why didn’t you audition for the role of Spike?
I came across a few articles on the internet that I wanted to mentions. First, the Girl Scouts have announced that they are going to be shrinking their boxes of cookies due to the rising cost of the ingredients. The other options they considered and rejected were to increase the cost of their cookies or use less expensive ingredients. I guess I won’t buy any cookies this year. I thought they were a little pricey to begin with, but now they’re worse. To see how your favorite cookies are going to be affected, click here.
Cookies are the only thing in the news. Who likes french fries? It turns out that there is a big difference between fries from different restaurants. Sarah Fuss at Yahoo! Food did a report on the nutritional content of fries at seven different fast food restaurants. Click here to see how you favorate fries rated.
I would like to start out this post by saying that I have nothing personal against Keanu Reeves. I haven’t even seen all of his movies, so he might have done very well in some of them. However, I did see the Matrix and the Day the Earth Stood Still, based on those movies I would say his skills are medicore. He did have some good fight scenes in the Matrix Trilogy and that is the little bit of hope I have for the live action Cowboy Bebop movie that he’s going to star in. I am not convinced that Reeves is the best choice for the role, even though he can pull off acting aloof and has done some intensive action roles (2 things that the character of Spike would require). Then again, off the top of my head, I can’t think of anyone who would be good for the role. Maybe Edward Norton even though I haven’t seen him do much martial arts or gun fighting, but he does have good acting skills.
Actually, there is another bit of hope to draw from, Sunrise, Inc, the company that produced the originial anime is working closely with 20th Century Fox on this one. Kenji Uchida and Shinichiro Watanabe from Sunrise, as well as the series writer Keiko Nobumoto has been confirmed to be associate producers and the series producer Masahiko Minami has been confirmed as a production consultant. I’m sure that they will try to keep the movie true to the spirit of the original show.
The only other word I’ve heard about the movie is that Peter Craig, who I never heard of, is working on the script and Erwin Stoff from the Day the Earth Stood Still is going to do the special effects. There has been no news yet on the director or the rest of the cast.
For those unfamiliar with the show, Cowboy Bebop followed spaceship Bebop and it’s crew Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Ed as they went around the solar system hunting bounties in the year 2071.
I was going to make a post about Don’t Mess with the Zohan, a lame Adam Sandler movie that I tried to watch recently. However, with tax season coming up, I thought this article was a little more important.
Apparently the IRS wants to tax the gold, credits, loot, etc. that you earn in video games. So, all you gold farmers in WOW, be sure to include that gold when you file your 1040s. You can read some excepts here or the full 351 page report from the IRS here.
Okay, I’ve been going back and doing some edits to the stories I had been doing. Partly because I have gone back and changed/better developed some of the background of the series. I’ll be reposted rewritten chapters for now, but soon I will have some new content up.
I have decided not to post the Anime story for now because that will occur later in the series. For now I will be working on In A Beginning (the first story) and Guild Wars (the first crossover). There will eventually be a story in between the two, but I have not yet started writing it. If I do hit any writers block along the way, I may post the beginning of another story that I’m working on to fill the void.
Since my dad wanted some clarification on the advice I had been given about politics. My dad advised me to wait and help some other candident in the next election. Someone else told me to wait and help out in the next presidential campaign. Another friend told me that unless I join a political party that I’m philosphically opposed to, I don’t have a chance. Yet another friend flat out told me that I don’t have a chance. And still another friend just ignored me.
While the wait continues for news on Guild Wars 2 and the death of Tabula Rasa, I have found something new to fill the void. It’s called Fallen Earth.
Fallen Earth is currently in Alpha and they are accepting sign ups to test the game, beta is expected to start in the next month or two.
Ever since I decided to run for office my friends and family have been advising me not to. After my latest post, everyone pretty much jumped on me telling me that I don’t have a chance. After sitting back for a few days thinking about it I came up with two options: do what they say or try to prove them wrong. I finally realized that these were my friend, people who at least slightly care about me. So, I have decided to follow their advise and not run. Some day in the future I might think about doing it again, but now I’m focusing on a new idea, a new direction for my future. I’ve decided to become rich and famous.
Okay, I know that you are all saying that it’s not that easy. You just don’t decide to be rich and famous. I know. But I have a plan. I am currently in discussion with a few close friends who are willing to listen to the details. We’re crunching the numbers right now and writing up a real plan, but soon (probably in February) we’ll create our very own television show, which we will post here on this site. Right now our premise is a small group of ordinary, average people go around investigating various mysterious and/or paranormal events and sort the facts from the myths so that the viewers can know what really happened. On our agenda so far, we have ghosts, UFOs, the Bible, the Flannan Isle Lighthouse, the Newport Tower, and a few other things. We have an outline for our pilot episode and just need to come up with a couple hundred dollars. I’ll be doing some overtime at my work later this month and put that money towards the project. If anyone else what’s to chip in, I have the tip jar below.
Well, it happened. 2008 is gone and 2009 has begun. You know what that means? Our favorite TV shows are finally coming back.

On November 20, 2009 we get to see Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in action as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes.
In the gaming industry, Guild Wars 2 is rumored to be coming out sometime in 2009. Their Beta was supposed to be in 4th Quarter 08, but was pushed back, so we’re eagerly awaiting any news about that. However, Demigod is currently in Beta 2 and supposed to be coming out in Spring 2009 (it is currently available for preorder). For those of you who haven’t heard about this game, it is a hybrid first person shooter and real time strategy game by the designers of Supreme Commander. Here is the trailer for the game.
And to round things off, here are some of the new mangas that will be coming out in Early 2009:
So, I went back and double checked all the New Years resolutions that I had posted already to see which ones I would and won’t keep and if there are others that I want to add.
1. Lose fifty pounds
2. Play two games each day against my computer or real people and raise my chess rating about 600 points
3. Get elected to the State House of Delegates
4. Find Melanie Hutchison, an old friend of mine
5. Post 2-3 times a week and do more Lame Movie Reviews and get Robert to post more frequently (at least once a month)
6. Finish writing and publish the Amazing Adventures of Marshall and Gryphon. I will be removing the chapters that I’ve posted and will replace them with a severly revised version.
7. Learn how to dance so that when/if I go to dances I can sit in the corner by myself knowing how to dance.
Since it is now 2009, I am seriously starting my political campaign. If you live in my district, expect me to show up to visit soon. Since this post is getting fairly long, I’ll save politics for tomorrow.
