Voltron: Defender of the Universe live-action movie

After the success of Transformers and the new blockbuster Transformers 2, I started thinking that I would like to see a live action Voltron movie.  Turns out that Mark Gordon (the producer of Grey’s Anatomy and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) already thought of that.  However, there is a legal dispute between World Events Production (the US based company that released the cartoons here) and Toei Productions (the company that actually drew the cartoons in Japan) over the rights to make a live action movie.  As a result of this, New Regency, the production studio that was going to work with Mark Gordon to make the movie, has pulled out of the project.

But everyone I’ve talked to (okay, one of my coworkers) agrees that given the right script and cast, it could be an awesome movie.  Especially with the special effects department from Transformers.  He also suggested that Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) should play Pidge.
